Why this program exists

Making great work and selling great work require different skills

Creating a good product takes enormous effort.

An author may spend months or years writing a book. A musician may spend months writing, recording, mixing, and producing an album. A comedian may spend years developing material before recording a special.

After the work is finished, they still have to sell it.

Creators already give up meaningful portions of their sales to retailers and marketplaces, and many spend heavily on platforms like Meta to reach new customers.

They are already paying for distribution, attention, and sales.

Curios gives them another option: pay you.

If you can help them reach the right audience and generate a sale, they can share a meaningful percentage of that sale with you.

Where the budget already goes

An author's marketing budget could be going to you

Many creators currently pay platforms like Meta to advertise their books, music, comedy specials, and other work. They are spending money to bring in traffic, get attention to their work, and ultimately to find new audiences.

The Curios affiliate program allows creators to give that budget to you. They can offer the money directly to affiliates who successfully generate sales.

We think some of that money could go to you.

Paid advertising
Creators pay upfront

With paid advertising it can take tons of impressions and clicks before a conversion, and each impression and click costs money.

Since creators are only paying for conversions, the money they pay you can be very high.

All costs come from sales so creators are never out of pocket.

A creator can decide whether they want to spend money buying attention, rewarding sales, or doing some of both.

What you bring

Creators can pay you to become part of their sales engine

They choose what they are willing to pay for a sale. You choose whether the opportunity makes sense for you. If your work generates the purchase, you earn the reward.

You may already know how to get people's attention.
You may have an audience that trusts your book recommendations.
You may know how to make a good TikTok about a new novel.
You may run a newsletter where people come specifically to find their next book.
You may interview musicians or review comedy.
You may have a community built around a particular interest.

The economics

Why can a creator afford to give you 20%, 25%, or 30% of a sale?

Curios is a direct sales platform. When a creator sells directly, they start with 100% of the direct sale before choosing an affiliate reward. That creates room for the creator to decide how much a new customer is worth to them.

Suppose an author has a $30 audiobook. They could try to generate the sale themselves. They could spend money advertising it. They could also tell affiliates: "If you bring me the customer, I will give you 30%."

If an affiliate generates that $30 purchase, they earn $9. The author made a sale and found a new customer. The creator decided that giving up $9 was worthwhile because the affiliate created the sale.

That is why these rewards can be much larger than affiliate programs built around very thin retail margins.

Illustrative example
Audiobook price $9.99
Affiliate reward the author chose 30%
You earn on the sale $2.99
The author makes the difference, and gains a customer they now know. You earn $3 for generating it.

Customer discounts

Creators can also give your audience a reason to use your link

Creators can choose to attach a customer discount to affiliate-driven purchases. When someone uses your affiliate link, the discount can automatically be applied.

That gives you something concrete to offer your audience while you still earn the reward the creator established.

Attribution

Affiliate attribution can last up to 30 days

When someone clicks your affiliate link, Curios uses affiliate attribution to determine whether later qualifying purchases should be credited to you. The attribution window can last up to 30 days.

Day 1
Customer clicks your link.
Day 8
Customer comes back.
Day 12
Customer makes a qualifying purchase.
Same window
You receive affiliate credit.

Qualifying additional purchases from that buyer that also carry affiliate rewards may generate commissions during the attribution period.

Cookie persistence can vary based on browser settings, privacy controls, cookie deletion, and other technical factors.

Opt-out protection

What if a creator removes the product after you start promoting it?

Creators can opt into or out of the affiliate program. Curios provides a 30-day carryover for affiliates who created a link while the product was eligible.

If you created your link while the product was opted in, that link stays eligible for 30 days from the day you created it, even if the creator opts out in the meantime.

Day 1
You create the affiliate link.
Day 8
The creator opts out.
Through day 30
Your existing link remains eligible under the original opt-in.

FAQ

Questions about the Curios Affiliate Program

What is the Curios Affiliate Program? +
It is a program that lets you earn a percentage of a sale when you help a creator sell their work. Creators on Curios list books, ebooks, audiobooks, music, comedy specials, and other products for direct sale, and they choose an affiliate reward for the products they want promoted. You create an affiliate link, share it with your audience, and earn the reward when a qualifying purchase is attributed to your link.
Who can become a Curios affiliate? +
Anyone. The program is permissionless, so you do not need a creator to invite you. Book reviewers, BookTok and Bookstagram creators, newsletter writers, bloggers, podcasters, YouTubers, and community leaders all join the same way.
How much can Curios affiliates earn? +
Earnings are not capped in any way. The amount you earn depends on how many sales you bring in and which product you promote. Each creator sets the reward for each product, and you can see the percentage and the dollar commission before you create a link. Earnings are not guaranteed.
Why are Curios affiliate commissions so high? +
Curios is a direct sales platform, so a creator starts with 100% of a direct sale before choosing an affiliate reward. Because they are not working from a thin retail margin, they have room to decide what a new customer is worth and to offer 20%, 25%, 30%, or more to the person who brings that customer in.
Who determines the affiliate commission? +
The creator does, product by product. If a creator wants to promote their audiobook harder than their paperback, they can set a higher reward on the audiobook.
What products can I promote? +
Any product a creator has opted into the affiliate program. That includes books, ebooks, and audiobooks, along with music, comedy specials, and other digital creator content.
Can I promote books through Curios? +
Yes. Books are one of the most common categories on Curios, and the book affiliate program covers ebooks, audiobooks, and print editions from independent authors.
Is there an audiobook affiliate program? +
Yes. Audiobooks are listed alongside every other format, with their own price and their own affiliate reward set by the creator.
Can different versions of a book have different affiliate rewards? +
Yes. An author might offer 30% on the ebook, 25% on the audiobook, and 20% on the paperback of the same title. You can see each reward and pick the format that fits your audience.
How do Curios affiliate links work? +
Curios generates a tracking link that is unique to you and to the product you chose. When someone clicks it and completes a qualifying purchase, the sale is attributed to you and you earn the reward the creator established.
How long does affiliate tracking last? +
Affiliate attribution can last up to 30 days. Cookie persistence can vary based on browser settings, privacy controls, cookie deletion, and other technical factors, so the window can be shorter in practice.
What happens if a creator opts out? +
Curios provides a 30-day carryover. If you created your affiliate link while the product was eligible and the creator later opts out, your existing link remains eligible for 30 days from the day you created it.
Can creators give my audience a discount? +
Yes. A creator can attach a customer discount to affiliate-driven purchases, which can be applied automatically when someone buys through your link. Your audience saves money and you still earn the reward the creator set.
Can I track my clicks and conversions? +
Yes. Your dashboard reports clicks, conversions, conversion rate, and commissions earned, pending, and paid, along with which products are performing best.
How often do affiliates get paid? +
You can add your banking information and receive automatic weekly payouts for eligible commissions. You can also request payouts as needed, subject to applicable payout requirements and availability.
Do I need a large audience? +
No. A relevant audience can be valuable even when it is relatively small, because the people who follow you for recommendations are the people most likely to buy on one.
Is the Curios Affiliate Program free to join? +
Yes. Joining is free. Curios charges the creator a platform fee on affiliate-generated transactions based on their plan, which is 10% on Lite, 7% on Plus, and 5% on Pro.
Can authors become affiliates? +
Yes. Creators who sell on Curios can also promote other creators' work and earn affiliate commissions on the sales they generate.
Can I earn money recommending books? +
Yes, that is the core of the program. Find a book whose author has opted into affiliate promotion, create your link, recommend it to your audience, and earn the author's affiliate reward on qualifying sales.
